I sit here with the remnants of 2018 still scattered around. The tree is still up, dropping more needles every day. The new Playdoh, softly squished into places it shouldn’t be squished and me, same me.
I have an uneasy feeling about New Year’s resolutions. ‘I’m not going to eat chocolate, I must start running, I won’t stay up late..’ These things, let’s face it, they won’t last will they. I prefer New Year’s Intentions. It feels a bit softer, less aggressive, less…well, resolute.
I’m starting off 2019 with an uplifted feeling tingling in my fingertips. Excited about what lies ahead. I plan to do small things that make a bigger impact. To help me feel better, stronger and more focused.
This year we will be doing an FET. For those of you that don’t know, that stands for Frozen embryo transfer. Three years (and 3 weeks ago!) I had eggs removed to make 2 beautiful embryos. The first one made my Fox. His potential sibling (and would be twin, yet years apart, if it were to work) has been frozen in time for 1071 days. So my biggest intention this year is to help my body prepare for the drugs in prep of a transfer and then hopefully (cross those fingers!) carry a new baby. I did a lot of things to help my body become ‘baby ready’ when I had IVF for Fox. I’ll post about those things soon, for anyone who is TTC.
As big as that intention may sound, it’s all made up from tiny things. Including my next one, which is insanely simple. DRINK MORE WATER. Who else needs to do this one?! If you need extra help to remind you of this one, then check out these water apps.
I also want to be more organised. In my home life and work life. I want to plan business bits and bobs more in advance, in order to free up more time with my family. The Social Renegade has amazing resources to help you get more focused in your business and I can’t rate Paula’s work and dedication highly enough.
I also want to go easier on myself and not stress when I can’t do everything. Which brings me to you. You can’t do everything either. We are one human, with only 24 hours in one day and if we’re super lucky, 6-8 of those are probably sleeping. I want to put my Positive Planner to use more in the new few months to help me stay focused on each day and stop the constant drift.
If you also feel a little uncomfortable with the term ‘resolutions’, I’m here to tell you that it’s fine. YOU are fine. You are absolutely 100% OK doing exactly as you have been. You don’t need to diet, to deprive yourself, to over stretch yourself, to become someone else.
2019 is here, a fresh new page for you. And it’s here for you to write on, to scribble over, to stick pictures and memories in. It’s yours for the taking.
Happy 2019 folks, I’m looking forward to continuing this good thing we’ve got going on. Join me here
